We, Joel and Adrienne Charest, have had the privilege to serve as career missionaries with Assemblies of God World Missions since our appointment in 2002. It has been our dream to live and minister on the continent of Africa, specifically in the nation of Mozambique. Our journey to become missionaries began early in life as we attended New Life Church in Windsor Locks, CT and were exposed to many missionary speakers. Through prayer God spoke to each of us individually and called us into this great work.
Our training took place at Northpoint Bible College, formerly known as Zion Bible Institute. We both earned a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies with a minor in Missions. We both hold ministerial credentials with the Assemblies of God through the Southern New England Ministry Network.
We studied the Portuguese language in preparation of serving as missionaries to the Portuguese-speaking nations of Africa. Our language school was located outside of Lisbon, Portugal. Upon completion of language school we received our on-the-job training in the nation of Angola under the direction of other AGWM missionaries, Mark and Kim Gardner as well as Ron and Donna Mueller.
We currently live and minister in the city of Pemba, Mozambique with our three children: Kiera, Mikaela, and Jacob.
